TASK Academy present first Student of the Year

Student of the Year

One of the most exciting moments of the TASK First Birthday celebrations earlier this month saw the presentation of our TASK Student of the Year Award supported by Makita and Ox Tools.

TASK has created this special annual award to highlight outstanding individuals and help showcase their achievements, talents, and successes. The award celebrates exceptional learners who are seeking to improve their professional development and have shown outstanding skills, a positive attitude whilst demonstrating initiative and a willingness to help others.

Our 2023 winner and our first winner is Lucy Chapman from Surrey. Following Lucy’s attendance on a number of TASK courses (including the 3-day Garden Designers Introduction to Practical Landscaping), Lucy has shown exceptional skills and attitude which the judges felt went above and beyond what would normally be expected by a student during her coursework at TASK. Following her studies in occupational psychology and a successful corporate career, Lucy transitioned into horticulture and is a former WRAG Scheme (Work and Retrain As a Gardener Scheme) student WFGA - Advancing Horticulture Changing Lives Lucy is now studying Residential Garden Design with KLC School of Design

Many thanks to our industry partners Makita UK and OX Tools Europe for supporting the award and supplying some products for our student award winner.

We wish Lucy all the best in her future career in the industry, we look forward to following her progress!

The TASK team

Since its launch in September 2022, TASK has achieved several key milestones. The TASK team (above) has doubled in size and has launched an impressive, broad curriculum of 1-3 day courses for students. The Academy has established key partnerships with ten training and 25 leading industry partners, all of whom are committed to sharing specialist knowledge with students attending the Academy.

TASK is also proud to have received, for a second year, accreditation from LANTRA, the leading provider of training, qualifications and career guidance for land-based industries across the UK and Ireland. TASK’s selection of LANTRA accredited courses achieved an impressive 99% pass rate over the year and the feedback from students has been hugely positive.

During the next 12 months we’ll be on the lookout for our 2024 award winner so please get in touch if you’d like to to book on a course and understand what it takes to bag such an accolade! 🏆
